Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys was established in 1881 it is a flag ship school within Kent and teaches over 1300 pupils. It is a large school with various buildings with provide the right learning environment for their pupils.
Norton Mechanical were asked to tender for the major maintenance project at this school comprising of the replacement of heating and hot water plant as well as carrying out an oil to gas conversion.
Multiple asbestos found following refurbishment survey carried out. Norton Mechanical worked with asbestos contractor to ensure all areas required for checks were done and that all asbestos was removed prior to works starting. From working closely with this contractor Norton Mechanical were able to program start dates and resource appropriately to ensure the project timeframes were met.
New proposed gas route could only run along traffic route for buses. Norton Mechanical constantly communicated with local transport authority and did works “out of hours” to ensure buses did not get disrupted by these works.
To keep the school running with hot water constantly the new heating plant was delivered to the boiler room and the old system was decommissioned and new system was commissioned immediately after to minimise disruption.
Craning equipment was need to deliver the new plant. It was ensured that delivery was made outside of school hours and without disturbance to local residence.
